in addition to和in addition的用法不同，in addition to整個(gè)詞組相當(dāng)于一個(gè)介詞，所以to的后面要接賓語(yǔ)；in addition相當(dāng)于副詞，通常放在從句的句首，后面接完整的句子。addition的基本意思是“加”，指將兩個(gè)或兩個(gè)以上的人或事物合在一起，作此解時(shí)為不可數(shù)名詞，但有時(shí)其前可加不定冠詞，作“加法”解。

addition也可指“增加的人〔事物〕”，指在原有的基礎(chǔ)上增加的人或物，此時(shí)為可數(shù)名詞。

in addition to意為“加在…上”或“不但…”，其中to是介詞，在這不代表不定式，因此用in addition to doing this，而不是in addition to do this。
