復(fù)數(shù)。the Greens指的是格林一家的人，是復(fù)數(shù)。例如：The Greens are very happy.這句話的意思是格林一家很開心。單數(shù)就是一個(gè)，復(fù)數(shù)就是兩個(gè)或者兩個(gè)以上。

名詞復(fù)數(shù)的構(gòu)成法

一般在名詞詞尾加-s。如：dog-dogs，house-houses，gram-grams.

以-o或-s，-sh，-ch及-x結(jié)尾的名詞加-es構(gòu)成其復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：tomato-tomatoes，kiss-kisses，watch-watches，box-boxes，bush-bushes.

有些以-o結(jié)尾，是外來語或縮寫名詞，則加-s。如：piano-pianos，dynamo-dynamos，photo-photos，kimono-kimonos.

有些以-o結(jié)尾的名詞，其-o前是元音字母則加-s。如：studio-studios，radio-radios.

以-oo結(jié)尾的名詞只加-s。如：zoo-zoos。

以-y結(jié)尾的名詞，且-y前是一個(gè)輔音字母，則把-y去掉，加-ies。如：baby-babies，university-universities，fly-flies，impurity-impurities.

如果以-y結(jié)尾的名詞，-y前是一個(gè)元音字母，則直接加-s。如：boy-boys，donkey-donkeys.

以-f或-fe結(jié)尾的名詞，一般將-f，-fe去掉，加-ves。如：wife-wives，wolf-wolves，calf-calves.

這類名詞還有：life，knife，self，shelf，leaf，thief，sheaf，half等。

名詞scarf，wharf，hoof，handkerchief的復(fù)數(shù)形式或加-s或去掉-f加-ves，即scarfs或scarves，wharfs或wharves，hoofs或hooves，handkerchiefs或handkerchieves。

也有些以-f或-fe結(jié)尾的名詞只加-s。如：cliff-cliffs，belief-beliefs，safe-safes，roof-roofs，chief-chiefs等。

有些名詞以改變元音構(gòu)成其復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：man-men，woman-women，goose-geese，foot-feet，mouse-mice，louse-lice，tooth-teeth等。

child的復(fù)數(shù)為children，ox的復(fù)數(shù)為oxen。

有些表示生物的名詞，其復(fù)數(shù)形式與單數(shù)相同。如：fish-fish，sheep-sheep，deer-deer。這類名詞還有aircraft，means等。
