suggest指有意或無意的，直接或間接暗示，強(qiáng)調(diào)事物的表征等使人引起聯(lián)想。suggest后面必須加somebody(或者somebody's)doing...：請求某人做某事。如：I suggest my father(father's)stopping smoking.

suggest的基本用法

1.表示“建議”，常用suggest+動詞-ing或suggest+that從句，例如：I suggest going out for a walk.我建議出去散步。He suggested that we should start earlier the next day. 他建議我們第二天早點出發(fā)。

2.表示“提出”，用suggest+名詞/代詞，例如：The teacher suggested Tom as the new class representative.老師提議湯姆做新的班級代表。

3.表示“暗示”，用suggest+(to sb.)+that從句，例如：The look on his face suggested to us that he was lying.他臉上的表情暗示我們在撒謊。
