whether和if的區(qū)別主要有含義不同、用法不同。whether的含義：是否；不管；無論；if含義：如果；即使；每當(dāng)；條件；設(shè)想；whether用作連詞，意思是“是否，是不是”，可引導(dǎo)名詞從句或動詞不定式短語。

whether和if有哪些區(qū)別

一、意思不同

1.whether：(表示遲疑或兩個可能性之間的選擇)是否;(表示兩種情況都真實)是…(還是)

2.if：如果;假若;倘若;當(dāng);無論何時;每次

二、用法不同

1.whether：whether用作連詞，意思是“是否，是不是”，可引導(dǎo)名詞從句或動詞不定式短語。whether還可引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句，意思是“不管，無論”，從句中通常用一般現(xiàn)代時代替將來時。

2.if：if作為從屬連詞，可引導(dǎo)條件狀語從句、讓步狀語從句和名詞從句。if引導(dǎo)條件狀語從句，從句可為真實條件從句，也可為虛擬條件從句。

三、側(cè)重點不同

1.whether：whether引導(dǎo)的從句常可以與連詞or或or not直接連用。

2.if：if則不能與引導(dǎo)的從句?？梢耘c連詞or或or not直接連用。

if和whether有時可以互換

1.表示是否（隱含是與否的選擇），名詞性從句（主語從句除外）中:

請注意：也就是說多數(shù)情況下，它們是可以互換的；但if更常用，whether更正式。

2.名詞性從句（主語從句除外）中whether/if...or...或whether/if...or not表示選擇

She wondered whether/if his story was true or just fabricated.

她想知道他的故事是真是假。

I don’t know whether/if she is in Shanghai or in Beijing now.

我不知道她現(xiàn)在是在上海還是在北京。

I have no idea whether/if he is in the office (or not).

我不知道他是否在辦公室。

請注意：

盡管if也可以，一般人都傾向于用whether…or…或whether… or not！

名詞性從句（主語從句除外）中or not往往可以省略。
