The term "National Day", which refers to the national festival, was first seen in the Western Jin Dynasty. Lu Ji, a writer of the Western Jin Dynasty, wrote in his "Theory of the Five Princes" that "the National Day is only for its benefit, while the main sorrow is not for its harm". National Day means that the country has something to celebrate on this day. In ancient China, it is generally used for the jubilation of the emperor's accession to the throne.

On September 21, 1949, China's leaders proclaimed the birth of new China in their opening address to the conference. On October 1, 1949, a grand celebration was held in Tian 'anmen Square. On October 2, 1949, the government stipulated that every year on October 1 for the National Day, and to this day as the declaration of the founding of China.

國慶節(jié)的由來

“國慶”一詞，本指國家喜慶之事，最早見于西晉。西晉的文學(xué)家陸機在《五等諸侯論》一文中就曾有“國慶獨饗其利，主憂莫與其害”的記載。國慶節(jié)是指國家有在這個日子有喜慶的事情，在我國的古代一般用于帝皇登基誕辰等喜慶之事。

1949年9月21日，中國的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)者就已經(jīng)在會議的開幕詞中宣告了新中國的誕生。1949年10月1日，在天安門廣場舉行了盛大的慶典。1949年10月2日，政府規(guī)定每年10月1日為國慶日，并以這一天作為宣告中國成立的日子。
