not only but also謂語動詞看后面的，both and謂語動詞是復數(shù)。前者是遞進關系，后者是并列；如果連接主語，前者謂語是臨近關系，后者用復數(shù)。not only but also的意為不僅...而且，both and意思是兩者都。

both and 的用法

1.Both you and I are students. both...and...“兩者都...”，連接名詞或代詞作主語時，謂語動詞用復數(shù)形式，不受‘就近原則’的限制。

Both Li Ming and Wei Hua are good at English.

2.and 連接兩個成分作主語時，謂語要用復數(shù)形式。

You and she are on duty today.

3.采用就近原則的情況：當連詞或連詞短語連接兩個成分，而重點強調的是“其中之一”的時候，要采用就近原則。

or, either...or..., neither...nor..., not only...but also...等連接主語時，謂語動詞以后面的那個主語為主。

You or he is right.

Either your teacher or your classmates were there.

Neither you nor he is able to finish the work in an hour.
