表被動(dòng)。want，need，require作“需要”講時(shí)，賓語用名詞的主動(dòng)形式表被動(dòng)含義。require是動(dòng)詞詞性，通常用于及物動(dòng)詞和不及物動(dòng)詞，有需要，要求，命令，規(guī)定，想要等含義。也可引導(dǎo)賓語從句。

require的用法

1.require sth 需要，依靠

These pets require a lot of care and attention.

這些寵物需要悉心照顧。

2.require sb to do sth 要求某人做某事

At the beginning of the new term, all students will be required to take a short test.

在新學(xué)期的開始，所有學(xué)生都要參加一次小測試。

3.require doing sth 需要做某事

This book is required reading for this course.

這本書是這本課程的指定讀物。

4.require that+從句 需要，要求

在require引導(dǎo)的賓語從句中，謂語動(dòng)詞用“should +動(dòng)詞原形”，should可省略。

The situation required that he (should) be present.

這種情形需要他在場。

The task demands skills which cannot be presumed and therefore require proper training.

這一任務(wù)要求的不是想當(dāng)然的技術(shù),因此需要足夠訓(xùn)練。

The seeds require the catalytic action of water to release heat.

種子需要水的催化作用來散熱。

The kidneys require more water to flush out waste products.

腎臟需要更多的水排除廢物。
