survive可用作及物動詞和不及物動詞，作及物動詞時，有從...中逃生，比...活得長等含義，作不及物動詞時，有活下來，幸存等含義。

一.作及物動詞

1. 在...之后仍然生存,從...中逃生

Only two passengers survived the air-crash.

這次飛機失事只有兩名乘客幸免于死。

She was the only girl to survive the accident.

她是這次事故的惟一幸存者.

Few of the houses survived the war

沒有一所房子經(jīng)受住了戰(zhàn)爭的洗禮.

2. 比...活得長;喪失(配偶,親人等)

She survived her husband by twenty years.

她丈夫去世后她又活了二十年。

Surprisingly,John survived his younger brother.

出乎意料的是約翰竟然活得比他弟弟還長.

注：survive 本身已表示“幸存，幸免于”，因而其后不能再加多余的in或from（正如enter the

building不加into)

二.作不及物動詞，表示活下來,幸存;殘留

Few survived after the flood.

洪水后極少有人生還。

Of the six people injured in the crash, only two survived.

因這次撞車事故受傷的六人中,只有兩個人活下來了.

Of the wounded,only three survived.

傷員中只有三個活了下來.
